ad analysis

Running.Running. she doesn't have to run for someone or to someone or away from someone. she doesn't have to dress up or put lipstick on to run but she has to take something with her. Her troubles. Her insecurity, her anger, her frustration. She has to take it with her so she can leave it on the road. In this asics ad, a picture of a young woman inspires runners when her insecurities fall off of her the farther she runs she is literally leaving them behind as she runs on the asfault. The ad is inspireing no doubt but lets take a closer look.
The rhetoric device of pathos apeals to your need for happiness. She is almost smiling as if she is calm and at peace with herself. You mind tells you that you need peace. The words that are leaving her body are all negative. Anger,tired, hurt, fear, all emotions that no one wants to feel or exsperience.
The designers use of ethos is simple. Asics is a massively popular and known brand which brings them a lot of credability. Also the fact She isn't a super model that is a size double zero with some zombie expression smeared across her boney face. She is lean fit but has muscle and curves she is a real person.
finally we come to logos. The use of logos is evident through the fact that the ad shows the emotions leaving the runner . It shows running or just excersising as a stress releiver and Asic wants you to think that wearing their gear will help you accomplish this feat. People look for outlets and running is a good one to take. Asic wants to show this in hopes that people will want the gear because they are conviced they need it.
