education

In Emerson's essay and opinion he states that students should freely be given the range to learn and explore the amazing world. Emerson states that when students are given freedom and incentive they strive and pursue the knowledge of the world. But when the lessons and teachings become controlled, teh ferver and wanting for knowledge becomes undisired. In my personal situation the school not only teaches to the masses but it also only teaches testing. I don't know for absolutly sure but I am semi positive that being able to completely and correctly bubble in teh designateed bubble without leaving stray marks is not a valuable life skill.I had mch rather be able to know how to perform simple long divion than complete an algebra problem on a calculator swiftly and promply. It takes willing students, submissive schoool boards, and inspired teachers to make the learning process work to its fullness. I have personally had a teacher who loved what he did. He had such a ferver for history and he had a passion for the knowledge of what once was. Students would baffle me with their distaste for learning purely for the sake of learning. I personally love history and I love his class so much because we shared the same passion for the subject. He left an impression on me and I imagine that i will remember that teacher through my college days and most likely through the days I plan on teaching myself.

ad analysis

Running.Running. she doesn't have to run for someone or to someone or away from someone. she doesn't have to dress up or put lipstick on to run but she has to take something with her. Her troubles. Her insecurity, her anger, her frustration. She has to take it with her so she can leave it on the road. In this asics ad, a picture of a young woman inspires runners when her insecurities fall off of her the farther she runs she is literally leaving them behind as she runs on the asfault. The ad is inspireing no doubt but lets take a closer look.
The rhetoric device of pathos apeals to your need for happiness. She is almost smiling as if she is calm and at peace with herself. You mind tells you that you need peace. The words that are leaving her body are all negative. Anger,tired, hurt, fear, all emotions that no one wants to feel or exsperience.
The designers use of ethos is simple. Asics is a massively popular and known brand which brings them a lot of credability. Also the fact She isn't a super model that is a size double zero with some zombie expression smeared across her boney face. She is lean fit but has muscle and curves she is a real person.
finally we come to logos. The use of logos is evident through the fact that the ad shows the emotions leaving the runner . It shows running or just excersising as a stress releiver and Asic wants you to think that wearing their gear will help you accomplish this feat. People look for outlets and running is a good one to take. Asic wants to show this in hopes that people will want the gear because they are conviced they need it.

my experiment

so after looking at PINK's "six senses"  I came to the conclusion that a mini saga would be an interesting experiment because I already know it will take work fitting pages of detail into fifty words. Here is what I finally drafted to.

Erin grew up in a decent home with loving people. But along the way bad things shook her life out of balance. Instead of trying to balance herself she continued to sway until finally she fell and discovered that she was pregnant. But the baby made her balanced after all.

what happens to fear.
 does it fade or disappear...
like a candle freshly blown?
or  go dorment like a thread long been sewn.
and the roam?
does it hide like a child in fright?
or cower and cry
like a puppy in the night.

maybe it just pouts
like a spoiled child with a struck hand.

antigone character analysis

          Throughout time family has always been important. A family is something that every person needs, large or small family is vital. So what happens when yours is taken away? When cut off from family a person can feel alone and secluded. When a person’s family is threatened, no matter in what way, they can act irrationally to the point where they are mad with revenge and defense. Antigone is a young woman who, when her family was threatened she fought back and hard.

     Antigone tells Ismene “He has no right to keep me from my own.” As Antigone mourns the death of her parents and brothers she is forced to watch her family’s honor slip away. Creon decrees that Antigone’s brother is forbidden from being buried, leaving the corpse to be defiled and mangled by rabid dogs and buzzards. To Ismene she says: “I’ll bury my brother, your brother too, Though you refuse. I will not be found a traitor.” So in her strength and bravery she tries to convince her sister, Ismene that they should break the law for her brother’s honor…but she fails. But this doesn’t stop Antigone, she attempts to bury her brother though she knows death is soon to follow for herself.

       “Then go below, and if you must be loved. Love them! No woman will rule while I live.” Though her life is threatened by Creon she stands firm and determined in her ethics and faith. She is a woman of honor and integrity and is not afraid to die for the rights and respect of her brother and the obedience of her gods. “But justice will not allow this to you…” Antigone will do what needs to be done even if that means a brutal death. She would rather take punishment from man than punishment from the gods.

       “because you have chosen to live and I to die.” Antigone is determined for the sake of what is right to do whatever it takes to have her family buried. Because of her almost obsession for her family’s honor, even in death, she will never give up. “Don’t fear for me. Straighten out you own life.” Honor is an obsessive importance to Antigone and was very important during her time period to society. To be dishonored was a big deal and is still pretty serious today. Antigone has strong spiritual beliefs in the sense that she must please those below much longer then the people of the world. She has her morals straight with herself and her gods. She knows that ultimately what people want cannot be higher than those who put them here.

       Antigone is a smart, strong, and determined young woman who despite her trains and tribulations stuck to her heart until the end, which in actuality didn’t take long to get to. She made the decision to take her own life rather than have someone else take it from her. Antigone is a young woman who, when her family was threatened she fought till the death.

in TV shows  such as LAW & ORDER SVU  they usually portray a rape between someone who doesn’t even know their rapist or barely knows them.
the sadness in this is that usually when a child is raped... its by a family member or a family friend or an adult that has been intrusted with the child for means of protection.This sad fact breaks my heart because what do you do when your mom asks what happened and you have to lie because the person who attacked you is you father, or you brother, or you uncle, or your baby sitter, or even your little league coach.and most times the child won’t admit it they can go trough life without ever telling anyone and it eats hem alive
